Way Of The Unicorn-New Event (3\6\19)

There’s a new event in town.

Awesome! Free loot time.

The way of the unicorn event starts when Grab shows up on a cloud outside your castle. The even runs for 9 days, 16 more hours as of 11:15 AM EST.

This Heralds the coming of the event. This is one of the events where you get tokens (Unicorn Tokens in this case) from doing things within the game (or buying them).

How to get Unicorn Tokens?

As you can see here, every 2 hours you can watch an add for 150 tokens. Outside of this, you get tokens (varying amounts) for defeating players on the map, winning clan war points (300), winning Arena battles (25 I believe), completing invasions, advancing in Gem Bay or completing portal levels.

What can you redeem with these Tokens?

So ultimately, you want to get the Artifact, available after unlocking all the items below it.

This is a badass Artifact. It’s backstab, but with a guaranteed hit amount on first hit.

To get here though, you need to win roughly 105,000 Unicorn Tokens. You get rewards (diamonds, shards, some gear and resources) when you unlock things. The level right before the trinket has a nice Amulet, Mage robes, and a Damage orb.

If you were to straight out buy this trinket, you can for roughly 27000 diamonds.

Hope you all get some good loot out of this event. I know I will.

TR-10(Throne Room) Upgrade – Some things to consider about upgrading in general- New Event Incoming

So, I upgraded to TR-10, so I can get my fighters to 100 before the next Event.

Screenshot_20190303-130909_Hustle Castle-1.jpg

First off, no way my fighters will be 100 before, during the event without using diamonds.  It takes 9800 diamonds roughly to get a fighter from level 85, to 100.  Doing it without diamonds takes 63.75 days, per fighter.  But being TR10, allows me the ability to get level 100 legendaries/the level 100 Artifact from the event instead of the level 85 one.  This one will be permanent.  That’s why I did it.

With the last update, the game let us know they’re getting ready to launch A NEW EVENT.

Screenshot_20190303-131309_Hustle Castle.jpg

Grav will be showing up at our gates, and with him a NEW EVENT.  This is a good time to upgrade your TR.

Why is this a good time to upgrade your TR?

Good question.  Events mean free resources, lots of chest, and gear from whatever they decide to give us.  So upgrading prior to an event, means you’ll have lots of resources to upgrade your rooms/gear during the event.  I don’t know what format the event will take, but resources will be flowing, etc.

What should I consider PRIOR to upgrading my Throne room?

Well, once your fighters start leveling up, you’re going to suck at Arena until you get back in a bracket where your gear is good.  So stock up on Arena points prior.

Upgrading to get a specific thing higher (such as Fighter level)?  This is what I did.  I wanted my Fighter Training Room to be able to go to 100 before the event.  To upgrade to the highest, you need 4,500,000 Iron and 7,500,000 Gold.  Meaning you can’t upgrade this room, until you upgrade your Vault, and your Iron Depot.  So be ready to shell out diamonds for that OR do what I did.  Save up a ton of the Daily Reward Chests that give out gold, iron, wood so that once you spend your resources upgrading a room, you can open a few hundred of these and then basically start upgrading another room using those resources.

I did this for both rooms, then used some diamonds to speed up the process, so that I could finally upgrade my fighting training room.  Now it’s maxed out.  Now I have some guys going to level 86. GO ME.

Until all your fighters are at level 100, you’re going to be slightly weaker (or VERY weak) compared to where you should be for someone at your throne level.  Check with your guild leader to make sure they’re OK with this.  In my case, I’m just over 2 Million Squad power.  I talked to my guild leader (Thanks VOC) and decided that I’m still useful at that Squad Power for the foreseeable future, and that it’s ok for me not to be over-powered for a while. (Not that 2 Mill at tr9 is SUPER powerful, but its helpful).

Resources and Squad Power.  This is another thing to consider prior to upgrading.  Save up a lot of daily resource chests, to use them in upgrading your rooms when you upgrade your throne room.  Also have Arena points stored.  You’re going to suck at Arena once you upgrade until your fighters and gear are good, so save up beforehand.

Prior to upgrading, I had 30,000 Arena Points, 60 Purple Shards (To craft Legendaries with once I upgrade the crafting rooms), and 400 resources chests.

If you’re going to use diamonds to “Build Instantly” never actually use that button.

What? Why not?

20190303_140503.jpg

When you use this button, it’s some OUTRAGEOUS number.  Instead what you should do is start building the room, with a builder.  Then click “speed up”.  I’ve noticed the diamonds to speed up, after you start building go from like 5000 to like 3000.  I’ll remember to take screenshots next time I upgrade a room to prove my point Screen Shot Below…. but trust me. You don’t want to use that button. EVER.

So the before Above – 4782 for “instant”. If you want to maximize your resources (Someone on Reddit (user Kamilon) pointed out ‘Instant’ doesn’t use resources)… but using “Speed Up” instead is only 2494 Diamonds.

Screenshot_20190303-164617_Hustle Castle.jpg

What do you upgrade first once you are your new throne level?

This is a tough question.  It depends on why you’re upgrading when you are.  If it’s just to go to the next level, order of upgrading doesn’t really matter.  If you’re upgrading to get something specific, like I wanted the ability for 100 level fighters as early as possible, it’s important to look at that room and see what it requires.

I looked at that room and saw that in order to upgrade it, I needed Iron and Gold Storage that was higher that was capable at my current level.

I would highly recommend upgrading your storages for everything first.  This is because you want to be able to maximize your resources, so if you have the ability to store more, do that.

What ones first? Well I think food is the most important aspect of this game.  You can really only get it through chests, buying it with diamonds, or through the Dining Hall.  I’d say upgrade your Cellar early so you can take advantage of food.  Remember everything costs more food the higher up you go.

After you upgrade your storage (Food, Gold, Iron, Mana, Lumber) you’re going to want to maximize your resource gathering.

As I just mentioned, food controls this game. Fights, events, etc are usually completed through spending food to do the action.  So you’re going to want to get your Dining hall upgraded as soon as possible.

Upgrading a room, makes in unusable for the upgrade time.  I don’t know about you guys, but I can’t go 3 days without food gathering for the game.  Remember you can break up big rooms into smaller rooms.  While the Dining Hall (All 3 “sections”) upgrade at once, is a relatively low VALUE cost, (3.3 million gold, 2.145 million wood, 1.35 million Iron) and could be done easily… you won’t be getting any food for the time that room is upgrading.  So I suggest breaking it up into smaller parts, and upgrading them one at a time.  It takes 3 days.  So you will have less resources for 3 days, but you will be able to continue doing events, wars, attacking people for resources.

Screenshot_20190303-140953_Hustle Castle.jpg

After this, I’d recommend upgrading craft shops.

Then whatever you want.  Get everything up to max, then dominate.

Spring Event.. a review

Sorry for the lateness of this.  It might be of no use to you now as the event is hours away from being over, but I’ve been sick.

What is it?

This is the Spring event, or the event of the dragon? It’s definitely not spring.  It’s celebrating the Chinese New Year I think?  Either way, it means FREE STUFF for you. (Or you could use diamonds for free spins. or to reset the “Festival” portion).

You complete normal every day events, and get these things called LUCK COINS.

You get these for completing PVP, way-points, winning clan war points, Arena Battles and the Spring Festival event.

Spring Festival on the Map

Screenshot_20190210-104056_Hustle Castle.jpg

Like the last event, there are three “Paths” on the map.  At TR9 each waypoint costs 12700 food.  I’m sure this is scaled across all the different TR’s, but 12700 isn’t too bad for 16 points on the map.

The top route is like doing Individual invasion points.  It’s low level guys, who you just walk through. At the end, you get 15 Luck Coins and then a blue Spring Chest.

Screenshot_20190210-103523_Hustle Castle.jpg

Screenshot_20190210-105044_Hustle Castle.jpg

The middle route is like playing 1 PVP battle.  Usually the players aren’t an issue and you can walk through them as well with little difficulty.  However if you don’t heal up, you might have some trouble.  So let your team heal a bit between battles. At the end, you guessed it.. 15 Luck Coins and a blue Spring Chest.

The bottom route is basically Gem Bay with a 6 man team.  It’s pretty easy.  15 Luck coins, blue Spring Chest.

THE BOSS…. it easy.  Easier than most checkpoints on the middle route actually.  But you do a gem bay like fight, and round 5 is the Dragon of the Festival. You’re rewarded with a legendary Spring Chest and 25 Luck Coins.

Screenshot_20190210-104226_Hustle Castle.jpg

The LOOT

OK. So lots of different loot types here.  Guaranteed loot from the chests, upgrades to the castle looks, an AMULET is the #1 thing people want.. but it’s tough to get, and been rumored you can’t get it with our spending a fair amount of diamonds.  As of writing this I have not gotten it.  You can only get castle decorations from the Boss legendary chest, or the spin wheel (I believe).

Screenshot_20190210-102338_Hustle Castle.jpg

The loot process they chose is my least favorite.  It’s a spinwheel.  You spend 100 Luck Coins (Fairly easy to get this many) and it spins a wheel a random amount, and chooses 1 item.

Screenshot_20190210-102332_Hustle Castle.jpg

Castle Upgrades look kind of cool.  I got the background, the bridge, the windows, the roof, and the walls.  If you get the background, you can “click” on it for it to shoot of fireworks.

Screenshot_20190210-102312_Hustle Castle.jpg

The DRAGON mini pet.. is awesome.  I got a pic of him and the Reindeer in the same room.  I was hoping that he’d eat the reindeer… but then I’d miss TankDeer. Pretty cool though.

Screenshot_20190131-113327_Hustle Castle.jpg

Overall thoughts?

Overall, I wasn’t a huge fan of this.  As I mentioned before, it’s my least favorite type of loot system.  I know all loot is random, but seeing it spin past what you want every time you spin is just annoying.  Also, not a lot of people got the “best” gear from it.  Feels like a pay-to-win event as I everyone I know who got the amulet, spent between 4000 and 7000 diamonds on the event.

It does have some nice little things like the backgrounds.  If you don’t set your heart on getting the amulet, it’s a good event and you can get some good stuff from it.

Connect FB to the game? Why?

These damned data miners… Trying to steal all my FB data… What could possibly be the benefits of linking my FB to Hustle Castle?

I’m glad you asked.

First benefit.. Using these pills you can exten… Wait a minute.. Wrong website…

Ahem.

There are lots of benefits to connecting Facebook (FB, the bizzle, facebizzle, the book, Zuckerberg’s face recognition database) to the game.

You get a daily quest, which lets you open a bigger chest.

image0.png

You can send 5 chests to friends a day(for the quest.. you can actually send 20 in total).  Which does this quest.  Which give you scrolls to open the chest listed above (184/1500).  These chests are actually pretty good, usually contain diamonds, sometimes a legendary. So being able to get them faster is better.

You get free resources from sending AND receiving them.

Whattttt? Free? Yup. Every 10 you send, gets a resource chest.  Lots of people save these for portal events.  I save them for whenever I need food and am short, though they contain Food, Gold, Wood and Iron(at TR9 at least).  Right now I have around.. 300 of them, which is about 13 million gold.  When I jump up to TR10, I can use these for upgrading rooms quick at the beginning by boosting my gold supply.Screenshot_20190124-094823_Hustle Castle.jpg

It helps save game progress.

You can use it to help your account if you need to switch devices.  This can also be done through google play linking.

If you think of any I forgot.. let me know! 🙂

Current Team

I just updated my current team so everyone can see them.  See this team, and my past team Here.

Current team(1/10/19):

Makeup: 1 Tank, 2 Rez Mages, 2 Archers, 1 Assassin

Squad Power: 1,920,568Screenshot_20190110-104346_Hustle Castle.jpg

Differences:

I’ve gained around 180k squad power since mid-December(mainly due to gems + artifacts), so I decided to update my squad page.  The big change is i went from 2 tanks and 1 archer, to two archers and 1 tank.  My tank as you can see below has Rez armor, and I roll with 2 Rez Mages. The hit points on him are beefy, and he generally can tank 2-3 guys.  I noticed the high DPS usually wins matches over longevity, so I switched from the 2 tank method, to a 1 tank, and an extra higher-DPS (Second archer).

My archers are 1 bow/1 cross bow.  The cross bow is slower, but has higher damage hits, so I’ve paired it with a artifact that increases damage, at the cost of life.  This can lend itself to some really big crits, and help me take down other tanks very quickly.  I put the Rune on the regular bow, because it fires quicker and instead of restoring health (like on a cross bow) it instead does damage to multiple targets (23% of the time).

Weakpoints/Next upgrades:

The obvious one weakpoint.. Amulets on my DPS guys.  For some reason, I can’t get a good legendary Amulet that doesn’t have + spell power.  Same with Rings.  It’s like they want me to roll with 6 mages judging by the amulets I craft/Receive. Need to keep working on both amulets and rings for my DPS.

Gems, again, better gems = more powerful.

Artifacts on some of my guys. I’d like to replace my tanks artifact with a better one.  I want to get a second teleport one to put on an archer, but one that has an activation of “once in a while”. I’d put that one on my assassin, and move my assassins to my archer.  I also want to replace my sloth artifact with the spell caster to speed up my next rez, and reduce my opponents.

Armor – I made a big jump with my assassins armor.  He always gets killed, so the Arena store had armor that does damage upon death.  So he dies, does damage, then one of my mages rez’s him.  I like it.  I need to find some skele armor though.

Arena Brackets and you.. a beginners guide… wait.. It’s a beginners guide for me too.. WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ARENA

Screenshot_20181216-200135_Hustle Castle.jpg
All hail the mighty and powerful Arena.. we know not how you work….

OK. So we might not know NOTHING about Arena, but we certainly don’t know it all, and nothing we do know is 100% certain.  A lot of this was gathered from a reddit thread and re-worded or re-written as I understand it.  But that thread is here.

So what DO we think we know?(Best guesses)

Arena Brackets are based off of AVERAGE fighter class level.  They are broken up into the following:
20, 30, 40, 47, 55, 62, 70, 77, 87, 100

Average Levels will be rounded DOWN, but the second you are past the level threshold, you are put into the next one.  What do I mean by this?  If your Average fighter Class level of your top X(X being the amount of fighters allowed by your barracks) fighters. So if you are in a 6×77 bracket currently, your maximum average of fighters can by 77.99.  It will round down to 77.  The second you hit 78.00 though, you are pushed up into the 87 bracket.

Bracket Levels are determined by the 4x, 5x or 6x (depending on your barracks level) highest fighting class levels in your castle.  Not just in your barracks, or active squad.

What we think we might know?

So these ones we are a little less positive on, but have solid reason to believe to be true.
You can have fighters over your bracket in your squad.  So if you’re in the 40 bracket, you can have a level 40+ player in there.  HOW many are allowed though?

Number of fighters allowed over the level bracket you’re in –How many are you allowed to have over? The suggestion (unconfirmed) is that number is equal to how many are allowed by barracks minus three. So ONLY one overage in 4x, two overage in x5 and 3 overage in x6. Just to be sure. The maximum level of these overage is determined by next rule.

Now we’re just guessing.. but it’s good guessing…

This below rule is copied from here (https://www.reddit.com/r/HustleCastle/comments/a1ikev/what_we_know_about_arena_brackets_summary/)

“Brackets gap rule. Or what many call the “three bracket rules”, that in my opinion is incorrect. (Because – we will see later – a verifiable hypothesis is that they are not always three). According to this, your fighters can spans in no more then two brackets, leading your team to the higher/harder one as soon as a fighter “touch” the third bracket. What does it means? Let’s recall main brackets list, adding a lvl interval for each one:

  • 20 (up to 20)

  • 30 (21 ~ 30)

  • 40 (31 ~ 40)

  • 47 (41 ~ 47)

  • 55 (48 ~ 55)

  • 62 (56 ~ 62)

  • 70 (63 ~ 70)

  • 77 (71 ~ 77)

  • 87 (78 ~87)

  • 100 (87 ~ 100)

Basically a 5x team can insert 2 overage, provided that all 5 fighter will spans across only two of the previous intervals. For example, 60 60 55 52 52 if a valid 5×55 overaged combination: the average is 55,8 rounded down to 55 (the sum of total level is 279), it has 2 overage, ad it spans across brackets 55 (with the 55 52 52) and 62 (with 60 60).

It is also possible to exclude an intermediate bracket, if there are no fighters inside it. So 85 85 72 72 72 will be in 5×77, (spans across 87 and 77 intervals), just like 85 85 70 70 70 (spans across 87 and 70, without anyone touching the 71-77 interval), while 85 85 71 70 70 will be bumped to the next bracket, 5×87, because that lvl. 71 make it spans three (87, 70 and 77).

So, why it shouldn’t be called “three brackets rule”? Because according to experience, in 6x arena brackets you can actually find teams spanning across three. An example is the quite common 85 85 85 72 70 70 (spans 70, 77, 87) that could be find in 6×77. My opinion is that the 6th barracks level simply adds another bracket to the allowed gap, just like it adds the third overage. Conversely, the 4x barracks doesn’t seems to subtract a bracket gap reducing to only one allowed.

About the intermediate bracket exclusion, no, I don’t think at all it will be possible to do creative combination like 100 100 40 40 40 to spans two brackets and stay in a middle range. But if you want to banish some lvl 100 and try, you’ll be welcome!

Any comment, idea or suggestion to update this information and eventually confirm or deny them will be really appreciated. “

To sum it all up:

If you are doing well in a bracket, and you have fighters go up or down levels, you will notice a difference because you may have moved up a bracket or two.

Keep in mind, it’s the highest levels of your ENTIRE castle, not just your current active squad.

If you want to go down, you need to banish a fighter that will make an impact to your bracket average level (reduce your top X levels on Average)… so if you are in a 4×47 and you have a team of 47, 47, 47, 47.. and you have another 47 for gem bay… and you only get rid of 1 of your 47’s – then you will stay with an average of 47.

Runes… What are they ruining? Winter EVENT information

Get it? See that pun there? Gahhhh I’m terrible.

ANYWAYS – with the December event came the introduction of RUNES and a fun event where you can get tons of loot.

Winter event… what is it?

This is the introduction of Card Collections essentially.  When you open the card collections, you can get a TON of loot. Some of it good, some of it bad.

I got a LOT of purple gems, and dust, and legendaries, and food from it. I’d say the biggest help was in the gems followed by the runes and the Artifact,  Let’s start with what are Runes.

I also got a good amount of diamonds, and if you buy the “Bell” you get more rewards for completing card sets for the first time.

ONTO THE RUNES:

What are runes?

Runes are an item that can be applied to a weapon to make them more powerful and improve their abilities.

Screenshot_20181217-112645_Hustle Castle.jpg

There are three types of runes, to my knowledge, you can only get 1 of each type. You get them from the Christmas/Winter event by opening different types of collections. Collections are cards gathered by doing certain events.

Screenshot_20181217-112745_Hustle Castle.jpg

The Confrontation cards come from: Successfully attacking plays castles, Winning Battles in the Arena, winning at waypoints in clan wars.
The Massacre cards come from: Completing all invasions, Gem Bay chests, chests obtained in the Hustle area.
The Fun cards come from: Sending Resources to your friends, When Receiving resources FROM friends, buying diamonds, completing daily quests, portal CHEST level completion.

Hustle Area

The new Hustle area is this little area on the left side of the below screen shot:

Screenshot_20181217-113641_Hustle Castle.jpg
The Snow Man on the left.. labeled “Hustle”

This brings up a map that looks like this:
Screenshot_20181217-113646_Hustle Castle.jpg

As you can see, there are 12 way points and then 1 way point they all lead into.  SO…. 13 way points.

The top row is a series of bosses, it’s a 1 guy vs you type fight. I walked through it at 1.5-1.8 million squad power. I think it adjusts for your level.

The middle row is a series of gem-bay type battles vs minions.  Easily do-able as well.

The bottom row is a Arena like battle area, and usually the toughest.  You should win them all, but I did have to use a spell or two occasionally.  These are also scaled for your squad level.

You get a chest per win here, and then a special chest at the end.  This special chest is typically the worst.  Every chest you open though, you get collection cards.  Refreshing this area only costs 89 diamonds.  Each battle for me was only 12700 food. The chests usually aren’t that great, but you get a ton of cards from repeatedly doing this.

FINALLY THE RUNES

Rune of Strength comes from “Confrontation” Collections.

Weapon before and after:

Rune of Dexterity comes from “Massacre” Collections.

Artifact

The artifact you get from this is pretty awesome.  You get it by completing 100 collections over the course of the event:

Overall thoughts?

THIS EVENT WAS/IS AWESOME.

The game really needed this. As I mentioned above, I got a ton of loot from it so far. Mainly by doing the hustle area over and over and over and over and over again.  Hope you all liked the update as much as I did, and hopefully you have a better understanding of the event and the Runes.

Artifacts… a breakdown of what they are.

One word: Magic

Ok. So they aren’t magic, but they might as well be.

Every artifact has a few things. Name, Level, Activation and Ability.

Name is pretty straight forward.  It’s just what it’s called. No need to go into detail here.

Level

Every artifact has a level range.  For Artifacts, they are:

  • 20 – 35
  • 35 – 45
  • 45 – 60
  • 60 – 75
  • 75 – 90
  • 90 – 100

You can equip an artifact, and it will remain on your player even if you’re outside the level range, but you can’t equip a item outside of your level range.  However, if you are wearing one, and you out level it, it will no longer activate.

Activation

Activation tells you about how a artifact is triggered.  Unlike rings or amulets, artifacts don’t have benefits like +damage or crit.  Activation happens on Artifacts due to events.  Currently the activation events list are as follows:

  • Once in a while
  • When an enemy is resurrected *
  • Once in a while when an enemy is resurrected
  • When an ally is resurrected *
  • Once in a while when an ally is resurrected
  • When an enemy dies *
  • Once in a while when an enemy dies
  • When an ally dies *
  • Once in a while when an ally dies
  • Upon dying *
  • Once in a while after an enemy minion is summoned

*Means that this will only trigger ONE time per battle.

These activation times are pretty straight forward in understanding.  Just make sure that if you use one that is like “When an ally is resurrected”.. that you have either resurrection armor or resurrection mages, or else that artifact is useless.

Ability

Abyssal Summoning

Deals *magnitude* damage to and stuns all enemies for <duration> sec. Summons a minion next to the enemy (health *magnitude (range)*, damage *magnitude*).

Backstab

Teleports behind enemy units for *duration* seconds.

Blood Lust

Casts the blood lust on a fighter, decreasing their health by *magnitude*% and increasing damage caused by *magnitude*%.

Cleansing

Removes all effects from a random fighter on the battlefield.

Explosion Hazard

Deals *magnitude* damage to and stuns all fighters on the battlefield for *duration* sec.

Spell Caster

The damage the fighter does is reduced by *magnitude*%, but their ability cooldown is reduced by *magnitude*%. Lasts for <duration> sec.

Summon Healer

Summons a minion with a healing ability to the battlefield. Heals *magnitude* per second. Lasts for *duration* sec.

Summon Sniper

Summons a ranged unit to the battlefield that attacks the most distant targets. Deals *magnitude* damage per second. Lasts for <duration> sec.

Time Distortion

Slows the next ability cooldown in all enemies by *magnitude*%. Speeds up the next ability cooldown in all allies by *magnitude*%.

Unique or not unique

This is an important differentiation.  It may seem basic, but it can be tricky.  If an artifact is labeled as *Unique* you can only use 1 of those if they have the same ABILITY in the same battle.  The below artifacts have the same ABILITY, and are labeled as unique. Only one of them can be used by the same squad in the same battle.

The below two, are both labeled as UNIQUE and have the same name, but have different ability activators. These can both be used in the same squad in the same battle.

Where can you get artifacts?

Right now, you can get artifacts in the Arena Store, Master Chests, or Events.

Here are 4 of the Event artifacts you could get:
